Bird of Paradise

Bird of Paradise
for CMT13 TROPICAL

in the neighbourhood, New South Wales, Australia.

The Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia) is a much loved plant in Australian gardens.

The genus is named after the duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, birthplace of Queen Charlotte of the United Kingdom. Native to South Africa, it is commonly known as a crane flower there, and is featured on the reverse of the 50 cent coin. It is the floral emblem of the City of Los Angeles.

Marco F. Delminho, Andrea Ertl, Jocelyne Villoing, Nora Caracci and 15 other people have particularly liked this photo

Yes this flower is indeed a wonderfully colourful plant. I just love it - but it doesn't grow so easily here in the UK
