April in Toronto

April in Toronto
This was inspired by rdhinmn's photo "April in the Northern Latitudes"
www.ipernity.com/doc/713381/46517914

However, since Toronto is nearer the Equator than the North Pole I couldn't use Bob's title, too. Something like half of Canadians live south of the 45th parallel but we think of ourselves as a Northern people because of like...this.

This is not snow, by the way, but ice. Ice pellets fell on Saturday, then freezing rain yesterday.

Diane Putnam, Ruebenkraut, Andy Rodker, tiabunna and 5 other people have particularly liked this photo

You can keep your raccoons - we have quite enough of them. And we got ice before all the snow, but it was grainy stuff at least, not a skating rink.

Nice touch of gritty realism here. And thank you for the attribution, but if I think too hard about it, if you're comparing our front walk to a row of garbage cans, well - so I won't think about it.

No, your front walk is obviously superior to this walk, Bob. Usually this walk looks better, too, but the garage of the building out of sight to the right is being renovated, and all the garbage and recycling bins have been exiled to the street,

You're right not to want Toronto raccoons. Rabies is common in Toronto, or more common than elsewhere, so its raccoons, bats, and squirrels have to be treated with caution.

The ice was getting rotten today, although of course it still made for arduous walking. Tomorrow we may get snow over the ice.

I''ve had rabies shots once, as a kid, and that was enough. They hit my dad a lot harder than they did me, too, so more reason not to want them.

And yep, we're supposed to get more snow tomorrow.

We're supposed to start warming up on the weekend, with the temperature getting to 60F on the weekend. But they've lied to us before.

Spring is late all over Canada and the States, aNNa. And then when it gets here it will last about a week.
