Berlin neighborhood (#2703)
Public art on the side of the housing complexes at Mehringplatz, next to the exit from the subway portion of the u-bahn station. I was initially quite surprised at the extent that English is used in public art and advertising around Berlin, but then became so accustomed to it that I barely noticed the English.

I suppose I might see why English would be common in advertising, considering how many English-speaking tourists pass through. The use in public art surprises me.

It might be the issue of universal language. Where this was taken is not a location popular with tourists, but it is a neighborhood of ethnic transition with what seemed to be a very high percentage of residents from various countries of the former Ottoman Empire. English becomes the best common denominator.
