Aurorafalter: Ich schlafe noch ... Orange tip: I am still asleep ...

On a cool morning I found on the edge of a mixed forest this male Orange Tip (Anthocharis cardamines) resting on the flower of a greater stitchwort (Stellaria holostea). As the body was not yet "up to temperature", activity and flight behaviour were still quite limited. The photo of a female can be found in the PiP, the differences between males and females are shown in the Wikipedia article. Males have an orange spot on the tip of the upper side of the forewings (see note!), which is missing in females. The undersides are very similar in both sexes.
The caterpillars feed on cruciferous plants, preferring Cardamine pratensis and garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata). Anyone who leaves garlic mustard in the garden is therefore acting in the interest of butterfly protection.
