Franz Krolop (1839-1897); Bohemian bass.
In 1863 he made his debut at the Stadttheater von Troppau as Silva in Verdi's "Ernani". In 1864 he was engaged at Linz and in 1865 he made successful guest appearances at Hannover as Mephisto in Faust, Plumkett in Martha and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte. In 1866 he made guest appearances at Göteborg/ Sweden. From 1867/70 he was engaged at the Stadttheater von Bremen and in the following years he appeared at Leipzig and he joined an Italian touring opera company (Pollini). In 1873 he was engaged as "First bass" at the Berliner Hofoper, where he remained until his death in 1897. Here he was very successful and he excelled in buffo roles. He died after a surgical operation that had to be made immediately after a stage performance.

On the photo he is seen as sergeant Bombardon in Ignaz Brüll's opera "Das goldene Kreuz".
