Caroline Finaly (1849-1934); Hungarian soprano.
In 1868 she made her debut at the "Theater an der Wien" at Vienna as Olga in Offenbach's "Grossherzogin von Gerolstein". She remained here until 1872 and from 1872/74 she was engaged by the "Strampfer-Theater" at Vienna. She then returned to the "Theater an der Wien" where she remained until her early retirement from the stage in 1883. In the season 1876/77 she also performed at the "Wiener Carl-Theater". She sang at various premières and among them 4 operettas by Johann Strauss: as Emilia in "Cagliastro in Wien" (1875), as Pulcinella in "Prinz Methusalem" (1877),as Violetta in "Der lustige Krieg" (1881) and as Annina in the Austrian première of "Eine Nacht in Venedig" (1883). She sang at the première of "Apajune, der Wassermann" (1880) and she created the role of Laura in "Der Bettelstudent" (1882); both operettas by Karl Millöcker. In 1883 she sang at the première of "Die Afrikareise" by Franz von Suppé. She also made guest appearances, mainly at the "Friedrich Wilhelmstädtischen Theater" in Berlin. In 1883 she married the businessman Géza Pulitzer and retired from the stage.
