It is a non-native pest as it crowds out the native species but it is so pretty and bright that it is easy to forgive ... almost!

Oh I forgive it, annually Andy. My garden is full of mombretia and the colours are just amazing - they do make gorgeous splashes of orange against the pea green leaves - superb

I haven't seen it in Spain. It probably grows in the Atlantic regions of Galicia but I haven't been there (yet!).

Lovey bright flowers, but as Maggs said trying to dig it up is a pain the little tubers fall off and start again. The RHS describe it as not fully hardy don't know where they got that idea
