Rock Samphire

Rock Samphire
Gurnard's Head, Treen, Zennor. I would collect it from here and have it lightly steamed with fish for supper.

A beautiful place. Like the structures of the stones very much. And the nature with her power and fertility takes all back !

A type of greensand here although part of the headland consists of granite. Not all of Cornwall is granite, even if I give that impression sometimes. Thank you, Ulrich!

Many thanks, Rosa!
But I can't take any credit for the focusing; it was always automatic on my much loved and much lamented Nokia N95 camera-phone!

Plants do well to grow in such places. We have a similar plant here growing in sand, but I don't know if it's edible.

I just love the contrast between the lush green samphire plants and the brown of the rocks! An excellent shot Andy.

That's a plant I've never heard of before. It certainly decorates the rocks wonderfully!

I love it lightly steamed (one - two minutes) and served with a knob of butter and with fish. Adds a pleasant iodine-y tang, although it's not to everyone's taste!
