Great picture, but these Romans seem to have got everywhere!
They had a unified Europe once upon a time!
Best Wishes

Mario,
Peter (well, Spain was a fairly early addition to their Empire!),
Angelika (never to late for an HFF in my book!).
Thank you all and best wishes.
Have a good week.
Roman roads around here are straight as far as the eye can see: are they the same there?
A very belated HFF!
Andy Rodker club has replied to PolyrusRoman roads were straight only up to a point. Straight as far as a distant objective was concerned but very pragmatic where local obstacles were needed to be pushed through. The Roman road here is seen to be straight by means of aerial photography but on the ground it meanders in and out of hollows, dells, small hillocks and so on. The average Roman soldier would not have been very happy with an absolutely straight road.
All best wishes,
Andy
Fred,
Thank you both.
Best wishes, Andy
Many thanks!!!!
Ciao, Gabriella
And many thanks too for your visit.
Have a good week.
all best wishes,
Andy
The scents and the sounds of the countryside,
The silences in the afternoon, lying down in the shade of a tree reading a book,
A plane is flying somewhere in the blue sky disappearing above the white clouds,
I can hear kids playing, insects are buzzing all around and crickets sing the arrival of late afternoon. A lazy breeze ruffles the fields not yet cut...
Mmmmmh... this is the power of your picture, Andy!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Andrea Riberti club... unfortunately the smell of the farm (just out of shot on the left) is just too strong to encourage staying longer than time for a shot or two!!!
