What a picture, Jean-luc. *sigh*...leprosy is so awful. Like polio, it's been cured, yet many are still afflicted. Have you read or watched "The Motorcycle Diaries"? It's very deep and a true story as well and follows the travels of a man who goes on a long ride through South America. One part includes the visit to a leper colony. This is where I learned the truth about this horrible disease. Though I have never known a leper, my aunt had polio. They are NOT at ALL the same thing but what is the same is how people avoid either victim and how their lives are destroyed. Leprosy is by far the worse fate but I knew the Quasimodo-like deformity of my aunt and how life was ruined for her...she'd been a lovely girl but by the time she died at about 80x, she was a bitter, hateful person who could only shuffle around, in constant pain. Very sad. Of course, she also played the victim and didn't want to help herself or find a way to be happy. Isn't it interesting how so many who are handed such an unfortunate hand of cards can be happier and live a richer life than so many who were handed life on a silver platter? My aunt taught me a lot about how NOT to act, but I will never know what it was like to be her, so I cannot judge.

Thanks for this picture and a walk down memory lane. Here's a link to The Motorcycle Diaries if you're interested. (The link is to the film--the book is even better, it's incredible.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Motorcycle_Diaries_(film)

This is a superb image Jean-luc. Very nicely composed and taken.

Leprosy is such an awful disease and carries a lifetime of fear and prejudice from others! It is appalling that the conditions in which the disease occurs (mainly poverty) are still still allowed to happen today..!!
