Arnside Station view

A view out to the hills of our Lake District and the Kent estuary here from the footbridge over the rails at Arnside station, Cumbria. The trains leaving here towards the water will shortly glide over the famous Arnside viaduct (see pips). Of course like most railway scenes we have some fences here for those who collect such things.
I was time restricted on here and so unfortunately missed any trains.

Good to see the brick building and signal box still stand. That bus shelter spoils the effect athough it is quite a decorative bus shelter! The shots of the always impressive long viaduct are great.

It looks like the station is no longer in operation. In our country, many smaller railway stations are being closed down. Lack of staff and too high costs. :-(

The station itself is still very much in use. Whether that brick building was once a waiting room or simply offices is anybody's guess. Many of our stations that are still going just have a very simple shelter. The great days of our railways have long since vanished. Its amazing that this is still here.

Looks a nice little station Herb I have never set foot on the station. Re the bus shelter I think it is a railway shelter no room for a bus on the railway line.
