The boathouse

A look over Crummock Water along this fence, taking our eye to the boathouse on the opposite shore. When I see these fences in a big lake I often ask myself “to what purpose does it take?” Its Summer and the dense backdrop of green leaves on the trees testify to the amount of rain they have here.

Thanks for the visit David. As you full well know, this fence is simply an extension of the land based fence here to keep livestock in the correct sections, even when the lake is low and cattle try to get around it here. Some yards out to discourage swimming cows too?

It does take full size to enjoy this fully, Herb: the beautiful greens and shapes of the trees, the group of colorful figures by the boathouse, the gentle waves of the Water. A deceptively simple image, with an unsuspected wealth of interesting details.

The fence serves two purposes..
1) When the water level drops in summer, it is still there..
2) It prevents people / animals doing the simple thing of walking into the water to go round it..
