The light is almost biblical... yes this One Tree could be the salvation of the land, let’s hope so Herb ! A totally beautiful image, thank you for sharing it.

Adele you say what is in my heart too. Nowadays (quite unlike 52 years back) there are always flowers attached or nearby this tree and I have seen loved-ones ashes spread around it too, indicating it is indeed the 'One Tree' for many people. Glad you liked it.

One tree against a sky like this looks stunning Herb. I love the PiP!! When was it taken? You mentioned snow and a purple light in your previous shot....did you have your camera ready and at hand? :-))

Good to see you again Rosa. I think you can see and understand why I keep coming back to this tree. The Pip was taken in 2015 and this on that magic morning of Dec4, 2018 of which this shot is now about the 12th one that has been a hit here on Ipernity. Yesterday- I did have the camera not far away but by the time I got my coat and shoes on, the light was already going. For just a couple on minutes if anybody had have been out with a camera here - it would have been sheer magic! Snow and sleeting again now but nothing really sticking. I can see snow on the moors above Dovestones from our window here.

An extraordinary image Herb...............the shape of the tree is really wonderful especially shown silhouetted against the sky. The light and the mist have combined to make the background really glow! Love it...!!

I think I read the books you've quoted above years ago. A quote that stuck in my mind (assuming it's the same books) is "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king".

Another to tick all your boxes Keith. Yes, a favourite tree for me, and I think you can understand why. Again, very happy that you liked it.

There were six books in the main story here. A fantasy set in another similar Earth-like world. I can't remember that quote in there but my memory is not what it was. The quote itself originated from 'Desiderius Erasmus: “In the land of the blind'.

Finding the right tree in the right location is always a hit with most photographers, you have made a good job of this Herb, I like it a lot.

Yes, I must admit that I do look for lone trees on my outings. This one is quite special but in truth there are at least three more around here which are quality too. Great that you have enjoyed this.

You are so right Andy. They do often stand there majestically overlooking the antics of man and nature. Lone trees such as this are often held in esteem in many works of fantasy fiction and one can understand why. Glad you liked them both.

This is an excellent capture! The backlight only behind the tree is amazing and gives a kind of an aura. I like it more than the PiP, even the weather there is better.
