A Winter in Saddleworth

A Winter in Saddleworth
This winter has been very poor when it comes to real snow and ice. Today in desperation to get what I could after a night of light wet snow, I walked again up Chew Valley in Saddleworth. This is a view, behind my back as I forged up ahead in wind, sleet and rain. Looking back towards the villages of Greenfield, Uppermill and Grasscroft.

Enjoy

Hi Toz. I got to the car park about 09.30 and was home at 12.30. A heavy slog, in which I lost my camera eyecup which is very annoying. The weather was very mixed and yes, I did get to the top Chew Reservoir just as a thick damp -dark mist descended. In practice, that meant photos up there were almost a no-no. One or two nice ones on the way back though. As usual, a rare sight - the sun shone as I walked into my house . Glad you liked this. The Pip showed the average conditions there. -I had wondered about trying to get to Laddow Rocks but a passing hiker told me the path was treacherous .

Hi Herb

Full marks of effort getting out there in that horrible looking mist, which I guess will come down soon and spoil every possible view!!

Best Wishes,
Peter

Thanks Peter, the mist did catch up to me, just as I got to the very top of the valley at Chew reservoir and so no photos of that as it was that kind of mist! Lots of nice photos taken though so I was very happy with my walk. As I got back near the bottom of the lane again, the sun came out and bathed many parts with sunshine. Well worth the effort -as you say!

totally stunning image the lighting is just perfect you could not have timed it better. Its always worth the effort to get a shot that is out of the ordinary. very reminiscent of the topical clouds we are getting.

Yes, this did remind me of your recent stormy weather black sky too. Only a tiny blizzard and then all gone, until the mist came followed by the sun. All in a mornings walk. Not bad for the 'Grim' North or England! Very happy indeed that you enjoyed this.

A special moment my friend. A little like some of yours too, I think. Sometimes we go out and catch light like this but I must admit, for me at least, it is rare. Glad you liked it enough for a star.
