Storm approach at Montrose

Storm approach at Montrose
A short walk in sunshine and then I turn behind me and see this. A raging storm of hail and sleet approaching us fast. We are stood near the port of Montrose here on another bridge looking towards the railway bridge over the river South Esk where moments before taking this, the Scot Rail Intercity flew across. A dash to the car, parked nearby before the ground turned white. Some minutes later, the sun was trying again.
Enjoy, Herb

Bedrohlich sieht es aus, zum Glück, wenn das sichere Auto in der Nähe ist

It was for us. The hail came just as we opened the door. Each piece almost 1cm. Very happy you enjoyed this capture my friend. ~ Herb

Nice to see you again Adele. I do love nature when I can capture it like this. Fortunately I had my camera to hand as I was taking photos in the opposite direction.

What a contrast in moods. I know the feeling of being stalked by nature as well.

Nature can be so photogenic Steve. This put an end to our quick trip to Montrose but we returned the next day for more gems in brighter weather. ~ ~ Herb

You managed a great shot just before it hit. The bridge's pattern stands out as a border between the water and the storm.

Herb Riddle club has replied to Sarah P. club
Hi Sarah. Yes the storm was still some way off but was coming in quick. As can be seen on the water, the rain, hail and sleet had not reached us at that moment but we had to run away from it quickly for the shelter of our nearby car. I actually turned this way on hearing a train going over the viaduct and lifted my camera to catch half of that before constructing this nice view.

Well taken and you were very fortunate the car wasn't too far. The storm does make a great background though.

Great shot and with a marvellous description of the all weather is possible in one day climate. I once ended up in a snow storm in July at Linn of Dee ( you have probably been there while at Braemar). A week that was also memorable (while the sun was out) as the time I almost stepped on an Adder seeing it just in time to avoid it basking on a rock on well used path!

Thanks Colin. Glad you enjoyed this and it brought back memories too. Yes, we did go there and so some shots to come. Talk about Adders, whilst walking around Loch Kinord we spotted a sign warning us of Adders in the area that we had just walked through but we never saw a sign as we entered that area a few hundred yards beforehand. I was happily walking through the grass looking for the best viewpoints in blissful ignorance.

Typical photographer..............grab the shot before running away..!!

This is an astonishing shot Herb.............perfectly composed, even under pressure. The dark threatening clouds obviously make the shot, but I also like the patterns in the water - where it looks like the tide was running fast too.

Oh, and lovely detail in the bridge too.

Yep, that is us down to a tee Keith. We dread water droplets landing on our camera's and lens. Very happy that you enjoyed this. The water does run fast, in and out from the sea channel to the big inland lake here.

Wonderful shot (& editing!). Reminds me of my take over the IJmeer (Lake IJ) with heavy rains coming, from the Zeeburgerbrug in Amsterdam. (I'll upload it.)
