Ma’amalade sandwich Your Majesty?

At such a sad time there is still humour, supplied by this great lady.

As a child I followed her progress, loving the books which told of her childhood. I clearly remember George VI being ill and having one lung removed, and blocked off one nostril to see how this might have felt. I admired her fortitude when she had to take on the mantel of Queen at a very young age. She has been an inspiration to so many over her long years as the monarch of the UK.

A wonderful lady Amelia. I have a large book full of beautiful photos from her childhood that belonged to my father. I treasure it. I think your link shows what a wonderful sense of humour Queen Elizabeth II had. I have watched it and laughed so many times. She was crowned when I was almost 2 years old. I will miss her ♥

Such lovely photos and words Amelia...........and a wonderful video link! It was such a sad day yesterday and much to my surprise I shed a tear or two. Queen Elizabeth came to the throne in the year I was born. Having a King will take a bit of getting used to.

A beautiful tribute Amelia. Despite knowing she was becoming frail it was quite a shock to hear of her passing. She has been a constant in our lives, - I wasn't even born when she came to the throne, - and will be much missed and will be remembered in so many ways, not least for her sense of humour. The iconic video you posted will I am sure remain with us and make us smile for a long time to come.

Your reference to the late Queen's fortitude is very apt. Fortitude through the ups and downs of her country, its people, and also those closer to her. There she was, sitting alone at her husband's funeral, bearing that which had to borne with quiet determination. Her qualities did not go unnoticed, though, as is obvious from the public reaction to her passing.
