Castle beach bathing pool

Castle beach bathing pool
Very handy for going for a quick dook at dinner time, if one attended the Fisher School.
The mist almost obscures the Kinkell Braes caravan site.

A lovely coastal scene. The only tidal rock pools I knew previously were all in Australia. I think the water here may be a little too cool for me though!

I couldn't stand it now, George, but one is hardy when young, and it's a lovely way to swim.

A beautiful view along the beach to the cathedral ruins. I wonder how many tidal swimming pools there are in Fife. Quite a few by the look of things. I hear there are plans to restore the Pittenweem one.

By the look of the weather in this pic, Amelia, it looks like the Climate Data website was correct after all. LOL. Cheers, Joe

Believe it or not Joe, The sky was pure blue and the sun was scorching hot, but by the time I had switched the camera on, removed the lens cap and focused on the scene I wanted, the mist and mizzle had descended. As soon as I had taken the shot the mist magically disappeared, and I could see the caravans on the Kinkell Braes once more, I count this shot as perfectly timed. LOL

A much more interesting coastline than down here in Sussex. There's very little in the way of rock pools and the cliffs have a habit of falling apart, so one is discouraged from clambering about beneath them anyway.

I like the rocks stretching into the sea! The first tidal pools I saw were on Guernsey, in May only the local kids used them and they had neoprene suits! You must have been very hardy to swim in this pool;-)

Children don't feel the cold. There were 2 tidal pools in St.Andrews, the other was a bit up market with changing cubicles,. Sadly it closed and has been replaced with a sea-life centre and ubiquitous coffee shop. I have never visited it since.

A fine composition Amelia. This must be one of the best coastal views in Fife, regardless of what the weather conditions might be. I like the foam flecked waves rolling in between the bands of rocks in contrast with the millpond calm of the water in the pool.

All the best, Doug

There is a tidal swimming pool in Weston-super-Mare but not such a nice location as this! Is this where you went to school?

Yes, Rosa. The fist school I attended in St.Andrews was called The West Infants School, www.ipernity.com/doc/1021409/44148072//in/album/748876 from the age of 4.5 -7. Then I attended the Fisher School which is on this photo, www.ipernity.com/doc/1021409/44148092//in/album/748876. Then I attended the Burgh School for the final 2 years preparing for the Qualifying exam - on par with the 11+. www.ipernity.com/doc/1021409/44148130//in/album/748876,

For 6 months, before we moved to England I attended the Madras College. www.ipernity.com/doc/1021409/44148790//in/album/748876.

Nice subject and excellent composition. I like the converging lines of the rock outcrops, balanced by the incoming waves.
