My Mum looking very slim and petite
Well I've had a whale of a time searching through my hundreds of files and found some pictures I'd forgotten about. So thanks Summer, I've just had a wonderful 3 hours!!! Okay - to the theme - petite. It's meaning is short and sweet, a small female (the spelling gives it away!) of small stature, tiny boned and frame. Now my family are not what you'd call petite as we women have been on the slightly tall side (my grandmother was almost 5ft 11inches!) but my Mum was very tiny (to us) she wa…

  • A sort of nothing day............

    - 18 Sep 2013 - 8 comments
Well I'm afraid I've nothing to report really - it's been a sort of "nothing special" day - in fact it's been "nothing special days" altogether. It's been raining and windy for the last three days and so I've been cabined up and my neighbours are away so I've got to wait until Friday when Mandi's coming up, to get out of the house. She's said that she'll be coming up early because we have so much to get done............ We have to go shopping!!!!............ but first we have to collect my Tu…

  • How quickly would you realise what this was?

    Poor thing
This was sent to me and I must admit it would make me empty myself rather quickly and the language would be rather rife!!!!!!

  • A man was......................

    - 17 Sep 2013 - 7 comments
A man is driving down the road and breaks down near a monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, "My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night?" The monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, and even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound; a sound like no other that he has ever heard. The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say, We can't tell you because you're not a monk. The man is disappointe…

The clouds are very exuberant with that energy
Another thought provoking title to this week's theme. Thanks Summer. I've had fun going through my photos to see if I could do this theme justice. I do hope I've understood the meaning of the word.......... There is so much energy up there, the clouds are exuberant and were moving so erratically............ The sky decided to be exuberant in its colours and patterns........... The blossom is exuberant along the fence, hinting of it's fruit later on in the year..... Just a hin…

    Clear drops on the flower
Well to say I'm pooped is an understatement. I've been doing so many things two days running now and that's more than this poor body can cope with!!! Yesterday I went shopping with Ann, and that was enough to cope with because it was busy and to add insult to injury I was caught out with an idiot!!!!! I was dragging myself around the store on my last legs, when I espied a virtually empty till queue. There was a woman almost finished packing her stuff and then before me was a man with about 4…

  • Taking dresses up, digging up potatoes and blitzing the weeds....

    My home grown potatoes
Not a bad day today really on the whole. It was certainly brighter than yesterday and I took full advantage of the dry and windy weather to get my washing dry on the line. Meanwhile I did some sewing to take up some of Mandi's dresses. I've had to cut off about 5 inches on some of them and then because the material is stretchy, I've had to do the hemming by hand!!! She should look gorgeous now, with the dresses not having to be held up with a belt. Anyway while I was doing that - I caught up…

A hail storm in September 2013
Winter Wonderland: 'Unbelievable' Hail Storm A freak hail storm left part of a Cornish town looking like a winter wonderland. After the hottest summer in the county for seven years, residents in Boslowick, Falmouth could have been left wondering if it was already nearing Christmas with the scenes in their streets. Resident Tommy Matthews filmed the snowy-like conditions on Friday morning. He said they were "the likes of which I don't think I've ever seen before". Mr Matthews added: "You can…

    A wonderful display of anemones
Well it seems to have been a long time since I wrote this, because we have been very fortunate that it hasn't rained for a while. Well okay it might have done it at night, but today it was constant for most of the day. I took advantage of a break in the rain and went outside to take some photos - you know what I'm like when it's been raining!!! LOL Anyway whatever the weather has been like this year - it's certainly made my flowers grow and grow! The Japanese anemone - I have never kno…

The rugged coastline of North Devon
Well I am very fortunate to live close to the rugged coastline of North Devon, so there are plenty of opportunities of seeing anything rugged. So here is the rugged coastline at Hartland Quay looking down the coast towards Cornwall............. The beach itself is very rugged from all the falling rocks etc onto the coast. Also the rough seas etc carve themselves into the land............. The cliffs themselves have pushed up over the last million years etc to form this very impressi…

  • Some flies doing "naughties" on a flower!!! LOL

    Are these doing "naughties"?
I saw these while I was taking pictures - but didn't realise there were two flies (what ARE they doing?) on the anemone. Then I saw the nasturtiums looking rather lovely with small water droplets on them. The pots outside were looking decidedly droopy because we haven't had any rain for quite a while, so I watered them and now have seen the weather forecast and it's possible flooding overnight!!!!!!!!!!!! Should I have honestly bothered? Then there are these lovely flowe…

    Actually posing - thanks Pip
Well Pippin graced me with a photo session today. I was just getting ready to doll myself up to go shopping with Mandi, when he decided to sit all posh-like on the window sill. So not to look a gift horse in the mouth, I took some pictures of him and he actually posed!!!!! I mean - look at this face - isn't it adorable? He's actually looking straight at me - very unusual. Now he's all poseur - looking away to get his best side on show!!.......... He's even managed to get some…

John (Stormlizard) has recently put up some lovely Japanese paintings and I remembered that I have some gorgeous Chinese paintings - on rice or bamboo parchment. All are very delicate and so they are in individual covers. I just love them. Well I think they're gorgeous - I'll probably now find out that they're Japanese. I think they are probably over 100 years old but don't know their origin. If anyone knows the answer - please tell me.

  • Am pooped.............

    - 02 Sep 2013 - 5 comments
Well today was going to be a sort of quiet day - that meaning, not doing anything special. So what happens????? I did a large wash and it's all blowing nicely on the washing line. Then I started to do some sewing and have started to do some of the blue squares. The sun decided to come out and I remembered that I'd promised myself that I'd start on the weeds in the driveway. Armed with my new spray cylinder and a new box of Weedol (weedkiller) I pumped up this thing and then proceeded to s…
