He looks as cool as a cucumber in your garden. I've never seen a squirrel on our lawn, and only very rarely on our fence by the bird feeders. Have you noticed a dearth of small garden birds this year at your feeders, Rosa? Normally I have to replace bird food at least once a week, but that isn't happening at the moment.

He was very cool Amelia! I have noticed a dearth of small birds! There is a pair of blue tits nesting but apart from that we are getting mostly jackdaws, one crow and one very large rook! I haven't heard of any disease. It is very strange!

Wow, he is cute! With fewer people out and about they seem to be getting less shy:-)

I like squirrels, we have a few that visit and use the bird feeders, the small birds are far fewer this year, whether it is because of an abundance of other food or disease I don't know. Long tail tits have disappeared, finches red and green are few but around. The odd chaffinch, black bird, Thrush and wood pigeons, a couple of magpies and two or three red kites

You can't help but like them Nick, although they can become a bit of a nuisance. I am finding the same with the small birds. Not even having many of the ones you mention. Haven't seen my robin for a while. Also we usually get a pair of pigeons and doves about this time of year, but just one pigeon is a regular visitor. The strange this is that I can hear a lot of sparrows twittering outside, but they are not coming to feed.

Ha, ha........you've gotta love grey squirrels.........even if some people consider them pests. I had a dray in my garden some time ago and we got to the stage of hand feeding them - and their babies. Then we got a rescue dog.........and they stopped coming near the house. The dray has long gone, but we still get the odd one in the garden.

We're getting very few small birds in our garden, despite having numerous feeders and a couple of bird baths. Maybe there's more natural food about because of the mild winter?

Anyway, I really like these two shots!

You can't help it Keith ;-) My son-in-law has a video of Sophie feeding a squirrel. I suppose if you don't shoo them away they are quite happy to be friendly, especially if there is food on offer!

You also getting fewer birds! I know there is more natural food around but that didn't stop them other years. I just don't understand it. I suppose the mild winter could have something to do with it though.

Cheeky chappy ! They call these the rats ambassadors and it's easy to see why. I hate them in the garden raiding/damaging the bird feeders but like to watch them at the same time.

You make a good point Maurice. Like you, I have tried to squirrel proof all the bird feeders. Strangely, this one didn't try any of the feeders. I think he was enjoying the sunshine, sitting on the fence.

Cracking couple of shot of this cheeky creature Rosa. I have never seen a squirrel in our garden probably because the nearest wood is on the other side of the an open field which I guess they are reluctant to cross. The second shot is a real beaut!

I Tanja, I am very well thank you. I hope you are too? Unfortunately Sophie lives 20 miles from me so I haven't seen her since lockdown. I have spoken most days though. My daughter works for the NHS so we all have to be very careful.
