Yes it does Erich. I have seen lots on my travels today.
I want more of it in my garden for next year.
Thank you so much for your kind remarks.
Best wishes and good weekend,

Great shot and use of the light Rosalyn. Yes lovely cover plant, I have plenty in the front garden, wish I new a way to dry it and preserve the scent for other uses.

Thank you Maurice. I think you have to harvest the blooms before they are fully out and hang them in bunches in a dark place. I expect we both like the scent in the garden too much to do that though :)

This is so pretty Rosa, I LOVE LAVENDER... I buy that scent in every thing I can... soaps, candles, hand creme, etc.... OH and I hope Maurice will see this.,,.. Maurice, cut these when blooming like Rosa's here, and tie small bundles together and hand upside - down in a shed, storage area etc...until they dry....then you have the dried bloom / petals to place around for its fragrance. Ive done this with other nice / favorite blooms.... and then place in a nice arrangement of "dried flowers"... you may lose a bit of the scent but you will have the dried version of the flower.

Best wishes to you both.... Sarah

Oh, I answered Maurice before I saw your comment Sarah....sorry ;-))
It is a very popular scent. Many years ago when I was in hospital after an operation, a nurse put a little pouch of them under my pillow...that was lovely!
Sunday greetings, Rosa.

Oh my, isn't that just lovely. How wonderful to have it growing in your garden. When Steve and I were in France, we learned that there are two specific types which are actually not closely related...the short type takes a long time to grow and does not yield so much, and is more expensive--it is the better kind. The other kind is much taller, grows faster, yields much more and is not as high quality. My personal opinion, having smelled each: not enough difference to matter. Bottom line: lavender is wonderful, no matter what kind it is! :D

I was only reading about the different lavenders this week Janet! Mine is the French variety, which is lighter in colour and scent than the English variety, but I prefer the lighter colour, and it has taken a long time to grow, but well worth the wait. Thanks so much for your kind comments.

A really fine shot Rosa. Love the way the light is coming through the flowers and green of the leaves, perfect against the darker backdrop of your garden.

Have a great Sunday, Doug

Like the play of light Rosa, our English Lavender has flowered in the last couple of weeks, it has survived after we thought that the adjacent earlier flowering variety had buried it.

Thank you Roger. It was that light that had me grabbing the camera. I am pleased you lavender has survived.

Lovely back lighting, Rosa, that shows the translucent quality of the green leaves. I love the very effective shallow depth of field that makes the lavender stand out from the background. Cheers, Joe

Hi Rosa

I really like this beautiful picture!!!

Superb colours in the lavender, and great composition to catch it in the lighting you did.
Maybe you should start a lavender farm! I've sen a couple around England, but none down your way yet!

Best Wishes
Peter

Hi Peter,

Thank you very much. I have been to a lavender farm in Norfolk (Norfolk Lavender Products) and guess what....there is one not far away from me here in Somerset at a village called Falkland. I'll leave a link :)

Lavender doesn't seem to grow very well in my garden :( I am sooo jealous!

This lavender is in a pot Keith. It seems to do well, so I haven't put it into one of the borders. Many thanks for your kind comments. It was the light that had me running for the camera :)
