Pushing the boat out!

Pushing the boat out!
A neighbour of mine has been building a boat from scratch for the past 12 years. He lives down the narrowest lane in the village, but the day came when the boat was ready to be moved to Avonmouth! This is a series of pictures showing the delicate operation. They started at 8am and finally the boat was loaded at 1pm by a very large crane, taking it over buildings and telephone wires! He is now sailing around the Irish coast!!

A fascinating series Rosa.................you have to admire the dedication of your neighbour - 12 years! That's amazing.

You also have to admire the skill of the chaps who managed to get it out of the garden and safely onto the lorry - talk about a tight squeeze!

I hope you're going to present your neighbour with the photo's - he'll love them :-)

Very well taken :-)

It was under cover for a long time Keith and we didn't know what he was doing. Thought maybe it was something for his alpacas.....but you are right about his dedication and the skill of the crane operator and the lorry driver! They sure did deserve their tea and biscuits!!

That is a very good idea Keith...I will do that when he returns home. Thanks for your interest and great comments :)

A great series Rosa, I'm sure when he returns he will value copies of these. He certainly wasted no time getting to sea, when I look at the dates with these images.

I bet this caused chaos in the village for a while. I do hope his boat is watertight and that he's enjoying the maiden voyage. He sounds a bit of a character what with his alpacas and his boat building.

No one could get out of the lane Amelia...but we were all warned and they had quite an audience! A very talented and unassuming man. I hope all goes well for him.

A great series it looks an expensive operation, I wonder what he will do with the space, I remember next door but one having a longboat in the front garden for years but it was a lot easier to move it

Thank you Peter. Yes I'm sure it must have been expensive to move. We were all wondering how it would be done! I shall miss seeing the top of the mast from my garden!

Thank you dear Christiane. There were a few worrying moments!
The whole village was wondering how he would get the boat out of the narrow lane.
Thank goodness all problems were overcome :-)
