A Step in Time.

A Step in Time.
The original is in PiP. Just converted this to black & white and did a little cloning. The statue in the background is of Dorset poet William Barnes (22 February 1801 – 7 October 1886).

050 a step in time.

José Manuel Polo, Gudrun, Fred Fouarge, Dida From Augsburg and 36 other people have particularly liked this photo

Ha, ha............it took me ages to work out what you'd cloned out...........I should have gone to Specsaver's I think.

Not quite sure what to make of the man in the shot...........he seems to be in some sort of period costume. I like his hat though :-)

It's a cracking candid shot Rosa.............I like both versions, but I think you were right to make the B/W shot the main image...........it works very well.

Ha ha...I can still see the white electric cord...but I'm not that good at cloning :-)

It was taken at The Thomas Hardy Victorian Fair Keith, so yes he was dressed up. We had popped into a cafe until the shower of rain passed and I snapped him quickly as we came out.

The b&w version does seem to be more popular. Many thanks for your kind comments.

A wonderful creation Rosalyn, I'm not a huge fan of B&W but it works very well for this image and getting rid of the floodlights is a great improvement unwanted intrusions really annoy me.
Going the other way I'm not keen on old photos colourised however well done they loose something to me. I suppose that old photos that were hand coloured at the time the colours of the clothes were still guessed

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
Thank you very much Peter. I think there has to be a reason for b&w and this shot seemed to call out for it....even though I like the warm stone colour :) My father tried hand colouring on a photo where I was a bridesmaid in the 1950's...I much prefer the original, and so did he!

A street photo: an unusual work for you but, in this case, very well done !
The b/w more underlines the decay of the ancient wall and some details, as the open gate and the statue, but, above all, the b/w fixes very well the firm step of the man with the cloak.
A great capture !
All the best

Who is this man, Rosalyn ? Why is he dressed like that ?
I love the way he is dressed but it looks like he is from another time...
The two versions are good, Rosalyn, but like you and Pam I love the warm color of the
stones ....

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Christiane ♥.•*¨`*•✿
It was a Victorian Fair Christiane. I wish men dressed like this now....I wouldn't like to go back to the way women dressed in that time though ;-))

Very intriguing, Rosa, the man looks like an errant knight. I like the B&W better for the mysterious effect!
