River Otter Estuary, Budleigh Salterton, Devon

River Otter Estuary, Budleigh Salterton, Devon
Such a beautiful place, but out of shot there is an amazing amount of work going on which will include creating mudflats and saltmarsh, moving a road to protect a disused landfill site from erosion, and relocating a cricket club. The restoration of this land will enable better management of flooding, absorb carbon, and provide benefits for people and wildlife.

Best viewed large if you have time. Thanks.

One might even see Otters again! Looks like a most beautiful little area and its good to hear that people are taking steps to re-wild such places. It might make this place even more attractive to your camera Keith.

Well done.
Cheers. Herb

I've been going there for years Herb and never seen an otter.........but that would be good. Yes, it a really beautiful area and will be getting better over the next few years as the re-wilding progresses.

Glad you like it.

Budleigh Salterton has been a favourite of our for many years and this is another project that will help another help wildlife and hopefully residents, I read somewhere that areas like this absorb carbon in huge amounts,
A beautiful backdrop to a lovely capture and the watercourse is a brilliant lead in to this beautiful scene, would like to see this when in has grown a little.
Have a good weekend

Keith Burton club has replied to Jenny McIntyre club
Thank you Jenny..............as far as I know this has been planned for some time, but the funding has taken a while to come through. I'm really glad it's underway now and looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

There's no need to practice your German on me though :-)))

How lovely that it will provide a wild area for wildlife! Most places it is the opposite. It would be lovely to see it when it is finished.

I'm pleased you like it Wilhelm...........thank you.

If we don't protect these ecosystems, eventually they'll disappear and our planet will be in even more trouble than it is.
