Harvest Time
Taken yesterday afternoon near Funtington, West Sussex.

There's another image from a slightly different perspective in the PiP.

Thanks for looking!

The year is passing so quickly. Harvest is probably usually August here. Are you part of the drought restrictions down south, with a hosepipe ban, Keith?

Keith Burton club has replied to Amelia club
I can't argue with that Amelia.........too fast I think. I think they're harvesting pretty early here due to the record dry weather we've been having down here.

A hosepipe ban for parts of Hampshire comes into effect on Friday.........at the moment we're just outside the that area........for the moment. We've of course been asked to reduce the amount of water we use and we're doing the best we can. Our garden is pretty much dead or dying anyway!

Enjoy the rest of your week :-)

A good weather year for the harvest, which feels like it's earlier than normal, A nicely composed and lovely rural image which is expertly captured in well controlled bright sunlight.

As I've just said to Amelia above, I think they're harvesting earlier this year, which is not surprising.

Glad you like the shot Roger...........and thanks for dropping in.

Yes definitely harvesting time, as we know with the day long tractors travelling up and down this village. Of course we don't mind. Just happy that it's been a good year. I like both images equally Keith. They are beautiful. I agree with Amelia that this year is going so quickly....is it because we are getting older!

I think most the harvesting is pretty much done in our area...........and they seem to be doing well. I just feel sorry for all those who are trying to grow other crops in such hot and dry conditions!

Glad you like these two images Rosa..........and thanks for commenting.

I can't believe how fast the days pass at the moment..........especially after experiencing the lockdowns when every day dragged past extremely slowly!

Yes exactly. It drags when you don't want it to!!

I like them both, Keith. Of course harvest time was about a month ago for most grain around here but there is the barley still to harvest (at least I think it's barley!) But it's the same here, everything is ready that much earlier than usual!

Thanks Andy.............."the times they are a-changing" as someone famous once sang :)

What is the main crop here? These bales look like the stems of some grain.

Keith Burton club has replied to Ronald Losure club
I'm not entirely sure Ronald..........I didn't see the crops until after they were harvested, but I'm guessing wheat or barley.

It is interesting to see the different way that is used to wrap the bales from the way they are wrapped here in New Zealand. A lovely summer scene.

Oblong and swiss-roll shapes seem to be the most common here...........but a lot nowadays seem to be wrapped in black plastic!

Oblong would stack the best, I guess!
