Hortensias et vielles pierres

Au cœur de la forêt de Brocéliande, en bordure de l'étang de Paimpont, l’abbaye forme un ensemble architectural plutôt imposant composé principalement d’un grand bâtiment, abritant aujourd’hui le presbytère et la mairie, et prolongé par l'abbatiale dédiée à Notre-Dame de Paimpont. Fondée au 7e siècle, l’abbaye, qui n’est à l’époque qu’un modeste prieuré, est détruite au 9e siècle lors des invasions normandes. A la fin du 11e siècle, on reconstruit une église romane ; c’est de cette époque que datent les murs les plus anciens (façade ouest, contreforts). Au 13e siècle, l’église romane est transformée dans le style gothique.

HYDRANGEAS AND OLD STONES. In the heart of the Brocéliande forest, located at the Paimpont lake, the abbey forms a rather imposing architectural ensemble composed mainly of a large building, now housing the presbytery and the town hall, and extended by the abbey church dedicated to Notre-Dame de Paimpont. Founded in the 7th century, the abbey, which was then only a modest priory, was destroyed in the 9th century during the Norman invasions. At the end of the 11th century, a Romanesque church was rebuilt; It is from this period that date the oldest walls (west facade, buttresses). In the 13th century, the Romanesque church was transformed into the Gothic style.

HORTENSIEN UND ALTE STEINE. Im Herzen des Waldes von Brocéliande, am See von Paimpont, bildet die Abtei ein ziemlich imposantes architektonisches Ensemble, das hauptsächlich aus einem grossen Gebäude besteht, in dem heute das Pfarrhaus und das Rathaus untergebracht sind, und das durch die Abteikirche, die Notre-Dame de Paimpont gewidmet ist, verlängert wird. Die im 7. Jh. gegründete Abtei, die damals nur ein bescheidenes Priorat war, wurde im 9. Jh. während der normannischen Invasionen zerstört. Ende des 11. Jh. wurde eine romanische Kirche wieder aufgebaut; aus dieser Zeit stammen die ältesten Mauern (Westfassade, Strebepfeiler). Im 13. Jh. wird die romanische Kirche im gotischen Stil umgebaut.
