Until 1862, the Grote Kerk had a late Gothic organ, which was probably one of the oldest organs in the Netherlands. This organ from 1520 unfortunately became unusable in the middle of the 19th century. In 1862 the organ builders Bätz-Witte built the present organ, which was put into operation on 28 September 1862.The main organ, built in 1862, is the last great work of this organ builder.

Due to the excellent acoustics, atmosphere and equipment, many orchestras and choirs like to give concerts in the Grote Kerk Naarden.
Thus the performances of J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion, which attract thousands of visitors, also take place annually.
The seating capacity for the audience ranges from 50 to 1750 seats.

Flentrop Choir Organ
Since 1938 the Flentrop choir organ has had its place opposite the main organ at the end of the choir. The organ was built in 1937 for the World Exhibition in Paris. After the exhibition it was purchased by the Nederlandse Bachvereniging for the annual performances of Bach's St. Matthew Passion.
