1738 Epirrhoe alternata (Common Carpet)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 26-28mm.

As its common name implies, a common species widespread throughout the UK, often quite abundant in numbers.

In Cornwall, the flight season is from April to September, but occasionally it can extend into November. Normally there are two generations peaking in May/June, and August/September, but in good years, at least three generations can occur making a broad Summer and Autumn peak.
