1716 Rhodometra sacraria (Vestal)

1716 Rhodometra sacraria (Vestal)
Geometridae, Sterrhinae - Wingspan: 24-28mm.

A fairly common regular migrant from Europe most years, with occasional waves of immigration when the weather is conducive. Flight times in Cornwall range from June to November, with the highest numbers arriving in September and October, where offspring from European generations spread north. Apparently temperature affects the colour forms of the adult, this form being from where the pupa was formed in southern areas around the Mediterranean in higher temperature conditions.
