Point Lynas Lighthouse

Point Lynas Lighthouse
Sitting on a point of land about three miles east of Almwch on the Isle of Anglesey. A pilot station was established on the point in 1766 to guide ships entering and leaving Liverpool, with an associated lighthouse added in 1836. It is still in use with its reflector seen here behind the circular windows.
We picnicked just near this spot where looking up you also see the small coastguard hut. The PiPs shows the view from here back to the mainland and the Snowdonia mountain range, and I also show a snap of the playful dolphin from this very same spot, captured whilst we ate.

Enjoy full screen.

It was indeed David. A great hour spent here in sunshine and sights to see. There was also a 'Survey' ship cruising up and down the inshore waters here with a banner on its side proclaiming that they were mapping the shoreline depths for better accuracy. The Dolphin was our bonus.

A beautiful looking lighthouse..............actually, I think it looks more like a fort...........it stands out perfectly in the landscape. I really like the earthy .colours in the foreground. A cracking shot Herb.

It's up for sale if you're interested..............yours for a cool £1.375.000..!!

Thanks for the extra info Keith. Yes, I too had noticed some adds on Google to say it was up for sale. We saw the two holiday cottages too which both seem to be occupied. We have put in our offer! - After reading more in your link, I see the whole headland is included in the price. It would be a great crime if that was all made into a private garden prohibiting the public. ~ Glad you liked this and its cracking colours.

ps that's the price of a fancy cellar apartment in central London!

I love the colours in your main picture, and the building itself is very nice and castle-like! A superb picture with Snowdonia across the water and it must have been a joy to watch the dolphins playing....not to mention the picnic! :-))

All the best, Rosa.

Hello Pam -nice to see you here. You have a good memory then. I did not see the light flashing but all my research suggest that it is still working. ~ It was a very nice surprise to see it this interesting as we thought it might only be a boring building upon a headland.
