Eine dicke Hummel ... A big bumblebee ...

... tauchte beim Fotografieren einer Kugeldistel (Echinops) plötzlich von der Unterseite auf. Imposant sind der kräftige Kopf und die großen Augen dieses Insekts. Die Art konnte ich nicht bestimmen, weil die Hummel kurz nach der Aufnahme wegflog.
Die Aufnahme entstand morgens an einem Bestand von Kugeldisteln am Wegrand.

... suddenly appeared from the underside while photographing a globe thistle (Echinops). Impressive are the sturdy head and the big eyes of this insect. I could not determine the species, because the bumblebee flew away shortly after the photo was taken.
The picture was taken in the morning at a group of globe thistles at the wayside.
