My January reading list + new scarf and bracelet.

The PiP is what I used to read + a piece of old jewelry that I can no longer wear as the catch is broken. The new Commercial Arithmetic was my Father's. The battered dark red dictionary belonged to a great uncle.

The prize for merit is a leather-bound version of Oliver Twist which I was awarded in my last year in primary school.

Sarah O', Indycaver (Norm), Ian Wood, Heidiho and 11 other people have particularly liked this photo

It's a book Judith. I haven't tried tying any scarves using the instructions yet. But this blue scarf is one of three new ones.

The reading list may take me into February - suspense all the way. ;-)

Nice isn't it Rosa. I wonder if you looked at the PiP to see my old reading list. It gives lots of clues to my age! ;-)

Oh Judith, books are one of our favorite pastimes ... as they say one can never have too many books (well, actually you can, which is why we frequent our library so often lol) Nice presentation for the variety of new things. Oh and the tones in the scarf are quite nice. :) Happy New Year.

Hi Chris, I'm Amelia. Nice to meet you! ;-)
Our house is full of books, which sometimes even sit on the stairs. We occasionally have a good clear out, taking books that we will never read again to be recycled. Old favourites always stay with us of course.

Hi Amelia, Welcome to the group! :) We also must recycle or we will be finding ourselves with no room! :) Our library is just 1/2 block away which is a treat. We each have a Kindle Fire but we both prefer to feel the "pages" as we read ... might have something to do with our age... lol but I feel more connected to the story with a real book in hand. HNY

Hi there Pappy. I would take far too long to display the books - too busy having a sneak preview. ;-)

I wish books weren't so heavy! All the ones I want to read (or more exactly re-read) are in my parent's house in Cornwall! I am in Madrid! I would love to do a similar shot or two!
Great idea and effect, Amelia!
Best wishes, Andy

Amelia club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Do you take a few back with you every time you visit Cornwall, Andy? I would. When we lived in Norway where books are very expensive, I always carried 2 or 3 back and forth in my suitcase to keep me replenished. ;-)

Andy Rodker club has replied to Amelia club
Thanks Amelia.
Ryanair have a very restrictive weight policy and it is impossible to pack enough necessities for yourself in your hand-luggage, let alone extras such as heavy books, unless you want to pay a fortune for a suitcase in the hold. I don't!
Occasionally I get a lift from my sister's family if they drive over. But they are a whole family and space is at a premium. But I can just about smuggle a few books then but that's about it.
When I first moved to Spain I did get my most essential books boxed up and sent by UPS but the other factor is bookshelf space. You don't see many bookshelves here, the walls are made of stuff that is impossible to drill holes in! Space precludes it too; I live in a very nice but small studio flat.
Sorry for the long explanation!!!!
All best wishes,
Andy

I have read most of Jo Nesbø's books, Nick. He's very popular in Norway unsurprisingly. I think I'm in love with Harry Hole. ;-)

Beautiful scarf and I love the bracelet. Happy reading. Books are my downfall. I thank heaven for the kindle or I wouldn't be able to move in the house at all.
Amelia club has replied to Jean
I have tried reading with a Kindle, jean, but the satisfaction of holding a book and physically turning pages makes it a bit redundant most of the time.

Hi there, Wendi, photography interferes with my reading, but mostly when the weather is better. I am now on my third book since, Christmas - we've had a couple of beautiful days when it's imperative to go out walking.

Hey dear Amelia, LOVE the scarf.. Im not so much a reading fan, (no time mostly) but I soo love scarves! Have LOTS of them. I love your choice of color on this one, I guess I should post a shot of my collection:))) Might take two posting :)))) as I collect them, I like to learn new ways of tying / using them. They are fun, and actually they take the place of necklaces etc. :)
Love this composition. Hope you are well. and heading into a great New Year.

Kindest wishes, and a Hug, Sarah
