  • Look what greeted me when I opened the back door

    What greeted me this morning
This morning when I opened the back door this is what greeted me........... I was really quite concerned - where was the carcass I asked myself.......... I did go out and about looking for a bald seagull. There was nothing. No feathers in the house, so I don't think Pippin is the culprit - I think the seagull took refuge in my porch and saw off the cat. Apparently there are two young cats just moved in next door - the other half of my house, so maybe they've come to introduce themselves.…

I've just seen this one and even though I'm not a great fan of spiders, it still made me laugh a lot. youtu.be/19jaOSNibkU

  • At last the finale to the holiday saga!!!

    Ziggy never left our side
Well at last you can sigh with relief - we are almost at the end of the saga and this is the last of the holiday woes and stories I am going to tell you about. Unless of course, I remember something else!!! I did mention, didn't I, that we'd been adopted by a gorgeous young pup we nicknamed Ziggy? Now I'm a cat person, but you just couldn't help but fall in love with this gentle and affectionate dog........... As you know, Mandi is going back to join Dogan a week tomorrow and so they'r…

  • My poor flowers are desperately trying to stay blooming

    Detail of the flower
It's been a trying couple of days - the sky has been the same now - an overall cover of 'orrrible grey - all one colour and so depressing. Still I can't complain because I've had two weeks of gorgeous blue sky - apart from a couple of days when we had that storm. I suppose I can't complain neither because it's not been too cold, even though it's towards the end of October and I haven't had to put any heat on. Anyway I decided to venture outside inbetween showers and have a look at my pots to…

  • Okay - holiday part 4.....................

Strange bread, as soon as you touched it, it sank
While we'd been at our resort, Karen had been in touch with an old friend of hers who lived in Turkey itself apparently in a resort not far from us. Now Karen had already informed us of what they used to get up to on her last holiday and when she suggested her friend came over to visit us ................... we did politely excuse ourselves and say that it probably wasn't a good idea as there was nowhere where she could sleep - besides the resort was very quiet and her friend would really find i…

    Predicting the time
Well Summer certainly keeps us on our toes with her weekly suggestions - and today's no different. I've really tried to find things that are predictable, and I'm just waiting for her to pull me up on some things, but I don't care!!!!!!! LOL This is a lovely old clock which predicts the time, well it's right twice a day anyway!!! This is the way, as children, that we used to predict the time - was it ever right I wonder?? These predict either new trees to come if they are allowe…

  • My holiday - part three!!

    Dogan having a good laugh
Right where were we?............ Now this installment is of a rather delicate matter!!! Well some of it is............ Firstly I suppose I should mention that I'm just a normal human being with normal human traits, and maybe some faults............... but this was an accident and not something I've done in front of anyone before [well not that I'm prepared to admit to]!!!!!!! We'd been out to dinner at Dogan's restaurant and this was in the evening of our trip to the market. I did menti…

Tried my panorama thingy on camera
Right where was I? Our first morning was wonderful with hot sun and blue skies. We decided to eat our breakfast on the tables on the beach. The sea was like a millpond and it was so quiet in the resort - wonderful. Karen decided to put full make-up on to come down to breakfast!! We were going to spend the whole day on the beach!!!! She had to go and wipe it all off before she went to the beach! She never did it again............. This is my "inane" attempt at my panorama button on my c…

  • Must mention my neighbours

    - 15 Oct 2013 - 6 comments
    Back porch all repainted
I must mention what my neighbour's had got up to while I was away...... I had no idea what they'd got planned while I was out in Turkey, but I soon found out when I got back........ Bearing in mind I was what one could loosely call "knackered", I was surprised that I'd actually noticed that the back porch looked very white and tidy....... They'd decided my walls needed painting, so found some Weathershield in the porch and therefore painted the walls. I had intended on getting so…

  • Do you really want to know what went on?

    Karen
I couldn't have made it up really - well not without someone saying "No way - be realistic - no-one could be that ditzy!" My daughter's friend Karen was coming along with us on holiday and even though I've known her for 30 years and she was my late friend's daughter, I'd not been with her for longer than an hour at a time!!! Need I say more? It all started before we even left Exeter, my daughter's home! She hadn't weighed her suitcase and so we did it for her and she was almost 5KG over th…

My body may be back here in the UK but my brain dropped off somewhere between Bodrum in Turkey and the UK!!!!!!!! I am still so so tired, so won't be on here today - I know you will be totally devastated but I'm still shattered!!!!!!!!!! To keep you in suspense though - here are a few photos to keep you going til I come back on here!!!! Mandi and her hubby.................. My son-in-law and me, he'd taken us out for a wonderful meal. This was what it was like at 9am -…

  • Just a quickie folks...........

    - 25 Sep 2013 - 4 comments
Just a quick message to you all - am off tomorrow for my fortnight holiday in Turkey. I've packed and re-packed!!!! Have found that I am about 3KG UNDER my allowance which is good news. So that's okay.......... If I can - and the wi-fi is any good, plus if my new tablet behaves itself - then I'll try and do you an update on my holiday. Just don't hold your breath because I might be slightly three sheets to the wind with the Raki or whatever drink they can concoct!!! I hardly ever drink, but I…

When I went outside to get the washing in off the line, I noticed that some of the leaves up my driveway have changed into a gorgeous red. I don't know exactly what tree the leaves belong to - but whatever - they're gorgeous......... See everything else is green, the fig tree makes a wonderful bower over the driveway but these little spashes of red does make it very pretty. There are hundreds of windfall apples all over the drive, the birds love them - judging by the amount of bits of f…

  • The flowers are gradually going..........

Well today is an unusually warm day, for September I mean. The sky has at last become blue, I've got a wash drying on the line, which hopefully will be dry because my tumble dryer has given up the ghost. NOT a good time to do that - only 3 days before I go away!!!!! Still there is a slight wind and the sun is warm, so there's no reason why the washing shouldn't dry perfectly. Pippin was enjoying himself on the chairs outside on the driveway, stretching himself in all sorts of contortions, as…

  • A lady goes to the doctor.................

    - 22 Sep 2013 - 3 comments
A lady goes to the doctor and complains that her husband is losing interest in sex. The doctor gives her a pill, but warns her that it's still experimental. He tells her to slip into her husband's mashed potatoes at dinner. So that night she does just that. A week later she is back at the doctor and and says "Doc, the pill worked great! I put it into his potatoes like you said. Not even five minutes later he jumped up, raked the dishes and food onto the floor, ripped off all of my clothes and…

  • There is still some colour in the garden.

While I was outside saying goodbye to Mandi, I noticed that there is still a lot of colour left in the garden....... I do love the bright orange of the nasturtium next to the purple toadflax......... The little ant wandering around the yellow nasturtium.............. See it's gone somewhere else.......... This lycesteria formosa is still blooming!!!!!!!! It first flowered around April - a great plant to have in the garden. The old rose is still blooming and it's sc…

  • It all started in Boots...................

    - 20 Sep 2013 - 8 comments
Well this morning, after only 4 hours sleep, Mandi came up for our last day to get ready before next Thursday!!!!!!!! She came up earlier than usual because we had to go and get my Turkish Lira from the Post Office, then collect my prescription from the Chemist and then shopping, some more sewing etc..... you get the picture??? Well she came up early and after getting myself looking halfway decent, we set off to Boots the Chemist for my prescription. The lady behind the pharmacy counter had…
