Wonderful photo. If my memory serves me correctly, there was an early expedition to Cooper's Creek which resulted in several deaths. Read about it many years ago but have forgotten most of the details.

Two major expeditions went astray, Ron. Burke& Wills went exploring from south to north. Messed things up and only one member of the group survived. Another explorer, Ludwig Leichhard, led an expedition from east to west and was never seen again,
