Late evening running
Continuing my updates of old copied Antarctic slides. Because we'd been delayed so much by bad weather, we continued late into the Antarctic evening (see also PiP). Here we're heading toward the Stinear Nunataks (the mountains ahead), our next major base and survey point. These images also give a good representation of Sastrugi, the name for the wind-carved snow surface of the plateau. It made travelling in the caravans a test of sea-sickness resistance. :-) View large.

A great picture with beautiful focus, George!
I wish you a great new week, and please keep safe and well ;-)
Take care and have a good new week.
I used to always want to get to the Antarctic one day but after being out walking for the last couple of hours here in a blowing temperature of around zero, both my fingers and toes are freezing despite thick socks and gloves. I am afraid now that I could never stand those very low temps of the poles. Even my ambition to go back to the Alps to ski is in jeopardy. I shall end up, hopefully getting to the south Med for some heat and sunshine instead.
Be careful with your visitors -a long time since we had any (Almost 12 months now!)
Keep very safe. Herb
Wünsche noch einen schönen Sonntag, ganz liebe Grüße Güni :))
