Memories

Memories
Some of our most pleasant memories of Paris were of a late afternoon organ recital in Notre Dame. What dreadful news today.

It is an impressive place inside and out. Hopefully the damage will be rebuilt.

What a loss, but I am confident that much can be rebuilt, maybe in a joint effort.

DEAR GEORGE

I KNOW HOW NOTRE DAME WAS SO IMPORTANT. IT WAS AN ARCHITECTURAL KEY.Y DAD WAS AN ARCHITECT AND I GREW UP WITH THE HISTORY OF ARCHITECTURE IN MY BLOOD.

SHE WILL RISE FROM THE ASHES AN A NEW RENAISSANCE WILL START.

CRAFTSMEN WILL COME FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.

THIS WORLD NEED THIS NEW AGE OF BEAUTY . WE HAVE BECOME FORGETFUL AND BRUTALIZED .

I ALSO HAVE A DEAR FRIEND IN ENGLAND WHOSE FATHER WAS A STONE MASON AND HE RESTORED THE STONE WORK OF MANY ENGLISH CATHEDRALS.

TONIGHT HIS ANGEL WILL VISIT MANY CRAFTSMEN AND GUIDE THEM.

The news is horrifying, but the French people have the will to rebuild this national icon. There will be money and expertise made available to do this. Thank you for the photo and the musical link, George.

It was dreadful news and horrifying to see. I spent a year in Paris and often went to and fro past the cathedral. Visited many times over the years. It was right at the heart of the city and of France. Hopefully it will be rebuilt and restored. People from all over the world will want to contribute.

It was truly horrifying to see how the flames kept going late into the night in spite of the efforts of hundreds of firemen. Let's hope the structure will keep standing so they can rebuild.

We all share the feeling of loss here. I too have walked the interior of this great cathedral. Hopefully lessons will be learned and it will be restored to its former glory again. We in Britain know only too well the recent loss and damage by fire of some of our finest and oldest buildings.

A superb picture George. A shocking event! I would doubt that it could be rebuilt in five years, but I would love to be wrong.

Oh my, heartbreaking, wasn't it? It's amazing that millions have already been donated! Well, we have to remember that many historical things have been destroyed and then restored several times over the centuries...this world treasure will rise again.
