Red is the color of speed

Red is the color of speed
My contribution for The Sunday Challenge: Panning.

I tried all kinds of things but finally chose this rather blurry image because I like the way how items (bushes) on foreground gives a feeling the car is not only against blurry background, but kind of dives through the landscape. The shutter speed could have been a little shorter from used 1/8 second to get the car a little sharper. The focal length used is 140 mm equivalent. On editor I heavily increased the contrast and added so called "Lens distortion" effect: docs.gimp.org/en/plug-in-lens-distortion.html

ColRam, Sylvain Wiart, , Indycaver (Norm) and 12 other people have particularly liked this photo

I really like this, I have a few basket ball game shots like this and I like the blurriness of them.

Thanks Wendi =) I kind of fell in love with the randomness of this challenge =D Many of the pictures taken would at least work as abstracts after heavy editing.

I like this, too. It's almost like the car is going into light speed, hehe :-)

Thanks Valerie =) Around here we used to say cars like these reach the high speed only if falling down from the cliff =D

Like the feeling of speed and colors, but maybe too much sharpened for my taste

Thank you Wertti. Yes, maybe too much sharpening. Or I should have tried some other technique than "Unsharp Mask".

like the semi abstractness of it, and the blur gives a great sense of movement

Thank you Amaz. I especially wanted a generous background blur, no mater what it costs on sharpness of the subject (car) itself.

Thank you Rob. Cars like these reach the top speed when dropped from the cliff.

I like the abstract motion of this image but I guess I didn't understand the challenge as I was trying to keep the subject or at least part of it in focus while all else was blurred out. Oh well I need to try more of this but not too soon. lol

Thank you Chris. Yes, I admit the car is not sharp enough, and therefore the elevator picture would have been better. And I actually took also "better/sharper" car pictures. But as said, I like the idea of having some blurred elements also or foreground, which is why I chose this shot for the challenge. Oh, and actually Sari helped me to pick....

Thank you Karen, and you are welcome. I'm certainly NOT experienced in practise myself, but I have read enough photography books for one lifetime, and of course also my education as an librarian often inspires me to seek information and share it.

Ahhh...librarian. How interesting Sami!

Yes, Library and Information Science is my area. I have not actually worked in the library more than few months as a trainee. Education here however, reacquires college or university level education. And now that is what I teach, or more like "moderate the education", learn together with students what could/would/should be the future of libraries.
