Jubilee Clock Tower ~ Weymouth
The Jubilee Clock Tower is free-standing on the Esplanade of Weymouth, Dorset. It was built and erected in 1888 to commemorate the Golden jubilee of Queen Victoria and became Grade II Listed in 1974. Historic England described the clock as being a "florid but characteristic enrichment to the sea-front" and "boldy coloured". It is built of cast and wrought-iron and set on a Portland stone base.

A very colourful clock tower not as old as Leicester's that was completed in 1868 the full name being the Haymarket Memorial Clock Tower it was built as the first traffic island in Britain when the tram lines were laid in 1903 it was the most complex junction in the country. Hi Sarah, thank you for taking a closer look and for your kind comments. My father used to take us to Weymouth almost every Sunday through the summer, when we were kids. We also had relatives living there, so always enjoyed visiting them as well.
