The style of architecture of this church is quite beautiful, Rosa. The spire is very impressive. I love the colour contrast between the brown roof tiles and the blue sky. I love also the contrast in shapes of the stones in the dyke; i.e. the cut stones in the body of the dyke and the random shapes of the stones on top.

The three photographs of the flowers persuades me spring is just round the corner.

Cheers,

Joe

Zeals is 4.3 miles from me Joe and I always look across at the church when passing through. It is in such a nice setting, and the village green is full of flowers at this time. It felt like spring on my walk, but since coming home, it feels more like winter again!! Thank you as always for your nice and interesting comments.

Cheers, Rosa.

It is a lovely church with its red roof and beautifully proportioned spire. The spring flowers look so beautiful in the sunshine. Yesterday was so springlike here but today is wild wind and heavy rain. Don't think I'll be walking somehow.

Thank you Jean. I was a day of two halves here! This afternoon we also had the wild wind...I am hoping not the heavy rain though!

That church certain looks splendid in the sunset..............I especially like the spire and the red roof tiles. I also like the surrounding wall. I love the spring flowers in the PiPs, particularly the Snowdrops..........all beautifully captured in wonderful detail and colours! Really lovely photography Rosa!

I had a 50ft high sycamore tree in my garden taken down yesterday, as the bottom of it had rotted and it was dangerous. Despite the intermittent rain the tree surgeon got it down and also reduced the size of the bigger tree in the other corner. Most of the garden is now covered in sawdust! The poor man tried to blow it into piles to sweep it up but it was so wet it didn't move so I just told him to leave it...........in a week or so it will have changed colour from off-white to brown and it will make a good mulch :-))

PS: the squirrels are now totally confused because their favourite tree has disappeared :-))

Thank you Keith. It is in a lovely setting. I have never actually been inside, but I don't think they are open at the moment anyway.

Wow, 50ft is high! Always a shame to see a big tree come down though. It must have taken quite a time! It sounds like a thankless task trying to sweep the sawdust up. I put sawdust around flowers that the slugs like...it keeps them away. I have almost lost delphiniums due to them.

Oh dear! Poor squirrels. I will expect some pictures of puzzled squirrels from you now then Keith ;-))

I love both the church shot and the flower shots! Visited here once - I have friends who had a guest-house near the village.

Thank you very much Andy. The road through Zeals used to be part of the main route to Devon, as I'm sure you know. There was a nice little restaurant back then, but that died when the bypass was built.

A grand church Rosa, very ornate gothic windows and the beautiful spire reaching for heavens. Is Zeals a large village? The church itself looks to be quite a substantial in size, much larger than our simple and smallish Saxon one. The picture is very well composed with the church nicely positioned and I like the large tree filling that part of the frame. The PiPs with spring flowers displaying strong colours are a nice touch.

All the best, Doug

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Doug Shepherd club
Zeals is not a big village Doug. It is in Wiltshire but where the village sign ends, the village of Bourton begins, and it is in Dorset. Bourton also has a large church. They are both in the parish of Upper Stour. Before the A303 by-pass the main London to Exeter route was through both the villages I mentioned and on through Wincanton. Thank you for your interest and kind comments.

All the best,
Rosa.

Ich mag die Atmosphäre dieser Dorfkirchen besonders. Die Frühlingsblumen sind wunderschön. Die Narzissen stehen bei uns kurz vor der Blüte.

The village churches are often more interesting than the city ones. Their graveyards hold so much social history. Thank you for your kind comments and I hope to see your daffodils soon :)
