Last pictures from Great Chalfield Manor....probably!
If you watched the recent series of Poldark on TV, you may recognise this as Ray Penvenen's (played by John Nettles) home, Killewarren. It is said that it appealed to the production team because it is still lived in by the original family, the Floyds. This gives ‘Killewarren’ a feeling of warmth and domesticity which couldn’t be recreated in a studio.

Sehr schön, wenn Filmemacher solche wunderschönen Orte zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Ich kenne diese Serie aber leider nicht.

For period dramas National Trust properties are great. Poldark has been a very popular BBC series Lothar.

Wow! Great Chalfield Manor just keeps giving doesn't it! Another splendid set of images from there Rosa.

The building in the main image is beautiful and very church-like. I really like the huge windows, especially the arched ones. The leading line from the wall is perfect and I like the lichen on the top.

The autumn colours in the first PiP are simply gorgeous, especially in the overhanging leaves and the leaves floating on the surface of the water. The light is very nice too.

The dappled light in the second PiP is beautiful and I like the green, yellow and red colour combo of the leaves and lanterns.

Great stuff..............keep 'em coming!

I'm so pleased you think that Keith. I took more photos there than I have anywhere for a long time.....actually there might just be a couple more to show at some point :) The front of the Manor is quite different to the side, which to me looks much older.

Thank you very much for your kind comments on all three shots.

Thank you very much for your kind comments Joe. The front is quite different to the side of the house, part of which looks very Tudor in style.
All the best, Rosa.

I haven't seen the series, but I enjoy these three delightful images a lot, dear Rosa!
The beautiful ancient building, the autumn walk...and the Chinese lamps, too, so cheerful in their lively red and warm light!
Stay safe and take care my friend.

That Chalfield Manor looks to be on the same par as Anglesey Abbey near here, same style and probably similar age. Those Chinese Lanterns can be a problem, they were here when we bought this house but did not realise how they can spread if they are not kept under control.

Thank you Maurice. A good tip about the Chinese lanterns!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to José Manuel Polo club
Thank you for your kind comments Jose. The house has an earlier part to it, which I actually prefer, but nevertheless, it is a nice building. I was thinking of getting some Chinese lanterns until I read Maurice's comment about them spreading rapidly.

A lovely looking building that look as though it was built as a family home not to show off wealth like many of the large country houses

A Manor house rather than a stately home Peter. In normal times they do tours around the house. The original owner still lives in a section of it. Hope you have a good Tuesday.

A very nicely composed shot of the house Rosa, beautiful architecture with the tall chimneys and lovely window shapes. I like the autumn colours in the PiPs, especially the second one with the reflections on the water.

Hi Peter,
Thank you very much. I hope you do get there one day. It's not the easiest place to find, but then I don't use a sat-nav! Four miles from Bradford-on-Avon, so a lovely area to visit.
Best wishes, Rosa.
