My Wednesday Walk

My Wednesday Walk
A walk of 3 miles into Wincanton and back. A steep hill on the way in but great walking back with a bag full of goods from the butchers.

Thought it looked vaguely familiar ~ Lovely blue sky too. It is nice that you have a variety of walks to enjoy. Keep safe Rosa

The town hasn't changed much over the years. The buildings are much cleaner now the main road doesn't pass through, since about 1974. Stay safe and well also Nick.

Great images of this village and it looks a great day for a walk. Has there been much of a reduction in people/traffic with the CV19, Rosa. Stay safe.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to tiabunna club
Thank you George. Oh yes a big reduction in traffic in the town. The two main supermarkets are the other end of Wincanton and they stay open longer to stagger visits.
Take care & stay safe.

What a great variety of buildings but all blending together harmoniously. I like the streets with fewer cars. So much more attractive. Have a good and safe day.

The buildings are nicer further down the street Jean but I only went as far as the butchers. Besides the supermarkets, they are the only shop open in the High Street.
Take care & have a good evening.

A very attractive looking town and a lovely set of photos Rosa...............it seems like you had the place pretty much to yourself, although I guess it was probably busier nearer the supermarkets. It looks as if there is an eclectic range of independent shops too, which is always good. I spotted the butcher, but can't see the baker or the candle-stick maker :-))

Glad you had a nice day. Enjoy the rest of the week and take care.

There are some lovely and more historic buildings further down the town Keith but I didn't intend going any further. The supermarkets are on the edge of town so I will drive there once a week. Morrison's has an order and pick up scheme, which is handy. There is a baker, Lovington Bakery, who also make the ice-cream...no candle-stick maker yet!!

Thank you for your kind comments. Take care and have a good evening.

A nice place to shop, you must be getting fit with all this exercise Rosalyn !!! there is a distinct lack of people, there are more than ever here, I've managed to keep my shopping to two local shops at * o'clock on a Saturday morning

Yes, have to get fit Peter....making too many cakes! Luckily the west country has the lowest infection rate in England. I hope it stays that way. Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rosa

A very nice picture,of the village. The bright red van looks so timeless to match the thatched roofs... All you need to do is change the few cars for much older ones, add a traction engine or two, and of course someone wearing a smok, while leaning on a gate with a blade of grass in his mouth... The it's a hundred years ago!!

Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!

Hi Peter,

Wincanton is a small market town, but as with most, it's rapidly growing right now.
I do have some old pictures of what it used to look like. I'll sort them through and try to do a then and now series soon.

Take care & enjoy your weekend.

Quite ;-)) The postmen have been doing a great job during the lock-down, but the poor Inn is closed like all the others in UK. I hope that they can survive!
Best wishes & take care,
Rosa.
