Thank you Nouchet. There seem to be a lot of dovecotes around these large houses in that time. Even some churches have them in their grounds.

Sorry for butting in, Joe but ... 'dookit'. I presume Scot's dialect for dovecote, or have I got this wrong?

A nice capture Rosalyn it's more ornate than the one at Kinwarton that has 580 nest holes so about 1200 birds conditions in them must have been grim, they were of course very unpopular because the birds ate everyones crops but only the lord of the manor was allowed to eat the birds, the cause of a revolution in France ( a couple of internal shots on pages 23 & 24)

Wow! That's a posh dovecote! It's really beautiful (but only on the outside I would think)!

I love the shape and the lovely brickwork and the climbing plants. You've captured it all in glorious detail Rosa. Nice work!

I am intrigued too by Joe's name for it; 'dookit'. I presume Scots dialect for dovecote!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Thank you Andy.
Yes Joe is very good at that dialect....probably because he's a Scot ;-))
Did you know that Google translate has a Scots Dialect option!?

An amazing survivor Rosa, so very well captured here. The doves were better housed than the majority of the population of the 15th century!
