The shop fronts still look reasonably traditional, not like so many places fine if you look up but cheap and nasty at ground level. I'm not a Facebook fan but I do belong to a group on there called History of Leicester in images it's surprising the old photos people have, considering not that many people could afford to take photos

The Bootmakers has only recently been taken back to the way it was. It is actually a creative workshop for adults and children now. It was a solicitors for many years but they kept it in good order. I am in a group on facebook called Wincanton Past & Present and love it. Some great old pic's on there. Also, funnily enough I am in a group called For the Love of Leicester! I have only been there once but keep in touch will some old Panoramio friends through it.

Terrific! I hope no one seriously needs to read the directions on the road surface!
I misread the shop sign as bookmakers and didn't bat an eyelid of course!
I did visit the race course here as a bored 6 year old! My great-aunt in Cornwall had racehorses and sometimes I had to go with them to race meets. It put me off horse-racing and gambling for life!

The road signs could do with going over ;-) I have only ever been to two race meetings Andy, and that was ages ago. They do however have a lot of good events up there day and evenings and a good team and country crafts fair in the autumn.

Yes that is what I really should have done Roger. I lived just outside of Bridgwater for a while in 1975.

We are very lucky. I would hate to lose this Post Office! It is very well used, so that is good :-)
