Christmas Past (1)

Christmas Past (1)
Next to the record player with my two Christmas LP's - The Beatles and The Walker Brothers...I was well pleased! I think it was 1965.

Erhard Bernstein, Frans Schols, José Manuel Polo, Diane Putnam and 15 other people have particularly liked this photo

Isn't it great to have memories and excellent images like this to jog our nostalgia,
I really liked the simple life and relatively easy living of the 60s,
Really like this Rosa.

It is Roger. I was lucky that my father was a keen photographer. He used to print his own pictures as well. I loved the 60's :) Thank you for your kind comments.

Did I ever tell you I knew Noel Engel (aka Scott Walker)?
I never actually SAW him! He was painfully reclusive when he was pursuing his solo career and I used to be ushered into his recording studio (a glorified garden shed) by his manager (who was more my contact in fact) and we would talk about financial planning matters while he hid behind a screen! I went there twice to fill in application forms and obtain signatures, that kind of thing. He seemed very pleasant even if invisible!
I know I mentioned this to someone on Pano - possibly Rosa?
Ah, yes! I see Rosa's comment!
Anyway, it's a lovey photo, Diane!

Me Rosa :-)) No you hadn't told me that before but I do know someone who knows him and says he is very nice but as you say very reclusive man. I leant a friend my LP and never got it back and a few years ago my middle brother saw the very one for sale in a charity shop and bought it for my birthday. It actually cost £25 so a wonderful present!

Crikey!!
Whoops!!!
I started off replying to you, Rosa then somehow thought I was replying to Diane??? I blame pressure of work! I'm working this week - lots of private classes - all my colleagues are putting their feet up for two weeks! Well, that's my excuse!
But it's true that I did explain all this to someone on Pano - a Walker Brothers fan. I wonder who it was?

That's OK Andy. It was Diane's picture that prompted me to show these two. She was dark and I was blonde :-) Sounds like you need a well earned rest!

Very nice Rosa, it's so nice looking back. Lovely Xmas photo.
All I seemed to think about in the 60's, were Girls and motor bikes!

That sounds very normal John. My first proper boyfriend had a motorbike and used to meet me from school on it sometimes :-)

Sweet fifteen ! When you show pictures like this, there are lot of memories ! My first LP has been 'Around and Around' by the Stones. It was very expensive for me and I was very happy to get it as a Christmas present from some friends of mine. But I have to confess: I liked the Walker Brothers, too. But I started to play guitar in a band at the age of sixteen and we played a lot of R&B stuff. The Walkers had been my secret !

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Ulrich John club
Your secret is out at last Ulrich. I didn't like the Stones when I was a teenager but I did get to like their music a little later! Jimi Hendrix was on the
Walker Bros last tour and I feel very glad to have seen him live. Also on the same bill was Cat Stevens, another of my favourites back then....and I still go to see The Hollies! I wonder if there are any pictures of you in your band!?

Ulrich John club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne club
No pictures left ! Too much sex and drugs and Rock'n'Roll. Later ! Not in the early years. I never thought of the future during this time. So the only things which overlived are my vinyl-records. And a lot of memories in my head...

Hi Rosa,

Certainly a nice picture!! Such great times of prosperity!
I never got to see the Beatles either, but many others I did, starting with the Rolling Stones....
Some are still well know, others went into oblivion...

I never used to collect girls from school on my motorbike, until my daughter was of such an age!!
(I never did find out what her classmates thought of the idea).

Best Wishes
Peter

Hi Peter, it is so nice to hear memories from those of us of a certain age! Also the music from that era is still so popular. I bet your daughter was embarrassed as I was if my dad picked me up from school....ha ha! I do remember that he used to take me and my brothers for a quick ride up the road when he had a motorbike and came home from work. We queued up for it.....not so much traffic around back then.

Best wishes, Rosa.
