You have some very beautiful thatched cottages down your way, Rosa. I love the little thatched doorways too.

Wiltshire and Dorset do have a lot of thatched houses Amelia. In Dorset I have noticed many new thatched homes. The doorways are very cute :)

The thatched roofs give the cottage a mushroom-like look! The topiary fits right in:-)

Yes it does Gudrun ;) I am not too sure what the topiary is supposed to be, but maybe it needs to be viewed from their garden to see the bigger picture.

A lot of very interesting old cottages in this village that look like they have had many changes over the years.

Rosa, these thatched buildings are always so interesting to me, something we don't see over here....I too like the thatch over the doorways, AND Im drawn to that tree?bush? there, the tall one between those chimneys, pruned into a canapy shape at the top :) that's artistic:)

Very nice captures from a village I have never visited but must very soon Rosa.

It is a lovely village Roger. Part of it on the A road, where the pub and shop is but this older part is on the same road as the church and much quieter. The village shop has a nice and very reasonably priced cafe.

An other -different- but fantastic building too !

You have found another perfect little gem of a village to photograph Rosa. Beautiful buildings and a lovely series of images here. Love to see a thatched roof. The upkeep is probably quite costly but they really add to the charm of these old buildings.
