1T0A4635 Maru maru Albizia saman PIP
Le Marumaru, ou Arbre des avenues, est originaire d’Amérique tropicale, du Mexique au Nord jusqu’au Brésil, et du Pérou au Sud. Il a été introduit en Polynésie française comme arbre d’ombrage et en tant qu’espèce ornementale de par son feuillage vert brillant et ses fleurs roses.
Il n’est, pour le moment, pas naturalisé en Polynésie française alors qu’il produit des semences de bonne qualité. Il est considéré comme envahissant dans d’autres pays du Pacifique et notamment à Hawaii et à Fidji.
