Beachy Head lighthouse from the east - World Photography Day - 19 8 2021

Beachy Head lighthouse from the east - World Photography Day - 19 8 2021
To mark World Photography Day I decided to take a walk down the eastern side of Beachy Head, to Eastbourne, at the most southerly point of the South Downs National Park. I have walked the cliffs on the western side in the past and I have looked down on the pathways leading down the cliffs to the east, but have not ventured down them before. This is my favorite of the half-dozen shots of the lighthouse I took. The rest of my pictures are a mixture of scenic views and wildlife images of flowers and butterflies.
Happy WPD to all. I hope you had as enjoyable time taking your photos as I did.

Thanks, Keith. The topography rather than the photography was the key to the composition. I am not always a fan of featureless cloudy skies, but there was just enough light and shade to give the clouds some shape.
Have a good weekend.

I love that you chose an extended path, going beyond your normal walk, to find a photograph for World Photography Day. What a great way to expand one's horizons. And the resulting photograph is a delight. I love lighthouses and the white cliffs making the lighthouse appear so small is wonderful.

What brought you to choose this one over the scenic views and plant photos from the day? Was it a reminder of the extended walk you took? Or?

Do you think you might go further in a new direction because of this experience?

I chose this one as it was more distinctive than the scenery, which wasn't that spectacular anyway, looking back up steep grassy slopes, and the flowers and insects, from which I failed to find anything new. It also was the main objective of the walk - getting a photo of the lighthouse from that angle.
I may upload a few of the other photos in due course. But before I had time to sort out the best, I got into snapping the Triathlon.
