Ironweed

Ironweed
Ironweed. I don't see this much here as it normally needs more dampness. That said.. I get occasional stems of it. I love the colour and this was catching shaded morning light.

Its a disaster year here. Literally.. no butterflies.... no bees.... nothing. Maybe they will still come

Artwork mine own

Günter Klaus, ©UdoSm, Ecobird, Janet Brien and 43 other people have particularly liked this photo

... Don't know this Ironweed ... but I find it very beautiful !
I can see some bees in the garden ... because someone has some hives not far away from here. But something is definitely wrong this year with the birds. Usually I don't see them a lot as soon as the beautiful days are coming back. This year they are asking some food all the time ! ... and I am sure that it is because they don't find enough food around by themselves. That heat is killing vegetation ... and insects, of course (:o(((((.
Have a nice day, Pam.

Here we have over 100F... that is normal this time of year.... I feed the birds to they are here and the squirrels. But no butterflies or bees is very worrying.

Here also we have less bees than normal. They say, it's because of industrial agriculture. Too much mono-culture ... bees find not enough to eat. Seems, we are going to kill our own world, day by day....

Thankyou Heidi ..
I live very rurally. I an surrounded by 10,000 acres of wildlife managed land. Almost no agriculture so no pesticides really. This makes it even more worrying as it means the problems are much much wider spread.

Beautiful. Love the processing. There is a dearth of butterflies here too. Bees are around but look rather small and not so many hoverflies. We're having a good summer too so conditions are favourable.

Strange really, No butterflies or bees LAST YEAR, these past couple of weeks had plenty of all varieties, most likely due to two Buddleia trees in heavy flower, also noticed many of the winter garden visitor birds have also remained with the feeders being quiet busy.

Thankyou maurice...

The birds have been ok... but the native flowers arent doing as well as normal. Nothing is really this year.

Beautifully taken and presented, Pam. I'm not sure what is most disturbing, your note on the lack of bees and butterflies, or the many subsequent echoes of that in later comments from around the ipernity world.

Very beautiful flowers and colors. Also very beautiful treatment of the image. Hopefully some of my newly planted plants will flower, so maybe I can comment on bees later in the summer. Lots of birds at the feeder, though, and lots of squirrels.

Nice processing. Seems like our butterflies and bees are a little scarce around here, too, but we have had a lot of bird babies...maybe they are eating more than just seeds.

Ironweed is a new one on me, or maybe it is something else I have forgotten.
I would like to relieve you of some of that heat. A couple of days ago I thought about putting the central heating on, but opted for another two layers of clothing instead.
