Silver-Spotted Skipper (Epargyreus clarus) & a tiny Crab Spider !

Silver-Spotted Skipper (Epargyreus clarus) & a tiny Crab Spider !
It was a sunny day yesterday... but the heat indices takes us up to well over 110F and as high as 120f a couple of days ago

Today... we are back to intensive storms and we are back at flood level.

This beauty made a gentle reminder of how it is supposed to be

EXPLORED #2 !

Nine years drought..... 6 weeks deluge breaking historic(120 yrs) records. Another nearly 3 inches last night. We are over spilling on the pond(the one I normally MOW) so that means its around 10 feet deep.

Pam, I must congratulate you -- first, how did the lovely Lantana survive all the rain? Secondly, I'm sure you have not the time to tell how you caught this pix. Amazing ! How do you find these precious creatures -- butterfly or mouth.

Pam J has replied to Marvin Matthews
Thankyou Marvin.

The Lantana seems to be one of the few things that survives drought well.. and apparently deluge as well ! It isnt as prolific this year though

We could use some of that rain here. Eighty wildfires burning in BC and a quite a number here too. Very hot and dry with no rain predicted for the next three months!
Pam J has replied to Ron Hanko
Ron....

I never thought I would see the day when I dreaded rain in Oklahoma. But its got to that point now. We are at flood stage every time it rains now because the ground is waterflogged.. even have quicksand. Nine years if serious drought(and fires yes) now the land is being gouged and ripped apart.

I have friends who live near Aberdeen in SK.. but very rural. They have not even been able to go outside for more than a few minutes because of the dreadful drifting smoke.

These extremes are so hard on all.. and the animals as well.
Ron Hanko has replied to Pam J
Record hot temps here, though today is cooler, and we could smell the smoke fromt he wildfires in the area last week, especially across the border.

That moth with the tiny spider and the color of the blossom, delightful.

Record and near record low temps here in MN over the past week or so, but your heat and humidity is creeping in, though moderated by our northern location. I certainly hope you are not again subjected to the deluge of earlier in the year.
Pam J has replied to Dave Linscheid
Thankyou Dave....

Its actually Skipper butterfly .

Dreadful storm this morning... we werent going to go to town as the torrential rain was washing out and it was just nasty. It finally stopped and we did make it but only because the road was higher.. the pastures were under 2 feet of water. Washouts in places. Got up to the SH.77 and it was as if nothing had happened. Our pond over topped again... a river running down the south side

I'm so sorry to read of the weather you are enduring. Sounds horrible. Thank goodness there are moments like the one you have captured here. I've only recently found out that butterflies can go for three weeks without eating if the weather is bad so let's hope this one is tucked away safely somewhere till the sun comes out.
Pam J has replied to Jean
Thankyou Jean !

Today.. sunshine high humidity so taking the temps into heat indices of over 100F.
