Bookcrossing

Bookcrossing

That is a new way of bookcrossing to me, to post or give them to someone directly. Sounds like a good idea. Here bookcrossing books are usually left in a "safe place", like inside a cafe, but also in the bus during rush hours. But surely a book left somewhere outside on the street is in danger to become ripped into pieces and tossed into garbage.

Well, over the years at the german bookcrossing-forum we got to the find that a bookreleasing in the public transport wasn´t that effective because the cleaners who are constantly rolling around with their machines will them put away if the found them. Unlucky their business is it to clean and this means to remove everything which shouldn´t be there - they put the books in the trash or give then to the lost-property office where the books are going to be lost forever. ;) Because nobody will ask for them, and they don´t seem to view at bookcrossing.com at all.

Public places like restaurants are good ones as long as they are knowing what´s going on with the book. But they have opening hours so treasure hunt will be sometimes difficult.

So it tends to be to going to this "controlled relaesing" (for me) - the counts for journals are higher, and books will mostly not getting lost. Target for bookcrossing will be to let books travel and read - there are several variants of travel, I´m the "All inclusive" - guy, others might like the adventure backback- traveling of their books. :o)

The idea is very good, personally I drop the books I don't read anymore at a very small library near our cottage.
