Good Advice............

Another bit of artwork by My Dog Sighs in Southsea, Hampshire. This one has been done before..........I spotted it a couple of years ago..........but it got ruined and he repainted it (almost the same) in a different location. See the link to discover how it got ruined: www.ipernity.com/doc/keithburton/50590700/in/album/1344484 Have a good Friday everyone...........

Grey Heron in Flight

27 Mar 2023 20 26 110
I was sitting on a bench adjacent to the Mill Pond at Langstone Harbour, camera in hand, watching the world go by, when I noticed some children pointing upwards the sky above my head. Looking up I saw this Grey Heron and just had time to swing the camera upwards and back to grab this shot. I was quite pleased with it given the circumstances.

Flowers in my Lawn

Well, they were in the lawn until we cut the grass recently, and yes, including the forget-me-nots which are currently trying to take over my garden! Have a lovely day folks.

JOY (+PiP)

Another piece of colourful street art from Southsea, Hampshire. I had to stand in the middle of a busy road to get this photo, so it was taken very quickly :-))). The artist who created this one is called FARK. There's another one of his in the PiP. Please view large, on black. Thank you.

Wild Thing

Beach Huts in Exmouth, Devon

23 Apr 2023 19 30 78
These rather posh-looking beach huts ( or chalets as the council calls them) overlook the road and the beach, with a view out to sea.. They have electricity and plumbing. They are very popular and you could be on the waiting list for 10-15 years. The current annual rent is nearly £3,000 per year. There are quite a few "ordinary" beach huts (without electricity or plumbing) available to rent for "only" around £1,400 per year. These have a waiting list of 3 to 5 years. Personally, we're happy to sit on a bench on the promenade :-)))

Woodland Path

Another image from Stansted Forest, Hampshire. There's been a lot of tree felling and planting in this area over the past year............hence the deep ruts in the pathway.

River Otter Estuary, Budleigh Salterton, Devon

21 Apr 2023 26 36 99
Such a beautiful place, but out of shot there is an amazing amount of work going on which will include creating mudflats and saltmarsh, moving a road to protect a disused landfill site from erosion, and relocating a cricket club. The restoration of this land will enable better management of flooding, absorb carbon, and provide benefits for people and wildlife. Best viewed large if you have time. Thanks.

Orcombe Point, Exmouth, Devon

23 Apr 2023 24 39 104
These cliffs mark the western boundary of the Jurassic Coast, which is a World Heritage Site on the English Channel coast of southern England. It stretches from here to Studland Bay in Dorset, a distance of about 96 miles. It is the only place on Earth where rocks from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods can be seen in one place, representing 185 million years of the Earth’s history. (Info from Wikipedia). On a lovely day like this though, it's mainly a great place for family fun. It's nice to be back after my short break. I managed to do a bit of catching up on at least one of each of your most recent photos (but apologies if I've missed anyone). Over the next few days, I'll try to catch up with some of your other photos if I have time. Enjoy the rest of your week :-)

Walking the Dog

Taken in Stansted Forest, Hampshire. I hope you all have a great weekend, whatever you're doing :-)

Acer

Taken in my garden. I'm off today for a short break with family. I'll take my laptop with me, but I don't know what we'll be doing yet, so I haven't decided whether to continue posting my photos and viewing/commenting on yours. Back to normal next week probably Tues or Wed (ish).

Woodland Finds

16 Apr 2023 24 41 107
As much as I hate to admit it, I think my days of crawling around the woodland floor taking photos are numbered. My knees and back just can't take it anymore without a three day rest afterwards :-))) It's much easier to take a little bag with me and collect stuff to photograph at home and this is just what I've done here. I set up a small table in the back garden (in the sunshine). I used natural light and a piece of card pinned to my fence as a background with a subtle texture added. To get maximum depth of field I did an in-camera focus stack. I hope you like it.

This Life (+PiPs)

The artist is a local Southsea man who goes by the name of "My Dog Sighs". I've started to try and get a record of all his work, as I think he's excellent. Check out his website: mydogsighs.co.uk

Stansted Park Woods

Taken yesterday afternoon during a quick walk. I went on a recce to check out the places I normally find bluebells, but I think I'm a bit too early.

Robin

08 Apr 2023 26 34 116
I spotted this tiny golf-ball sized Robin in the Rock Gardens, Southsea and I couldn't resist grabbing a quick shot before it flew off. It's a shame about the messy background, but it was unavoidable.

Wood Anemone

10 Apr 2023 18 22 110
From my garden. These are tiny (around 2 or 3 cm across) daisy-like perennials, which come in several colours (usually blue, purple and pink). It is a wildflower native to the Mediterranean region, but now available to buy pretty much anywhere. We keep them in pots otherwise they would spread too much. Blackbirds have been digging in the pots lately and I think this one was a victim. I rescued it before it died for a photo. Best viewed large. Thank you.
